I am a writer. I have been writing in one form or another as long as I can remember, hence the antique typewriter. I could have put my laptop in there instead, but I love the look of the old machine. I bought it at a yard sale a few years ago and I still haven't invested the time necessary to make it work, but I enjoy looking at it.
My family is building a home church, along with some friends, hence the red lego house. Like the little part of the Body of Christ that meets in our home every Sunday, this little lego house is unpretentious, made up of many pieces, and lots of fun. If you want to know more, check out our website at www.CCFontheweb.com.
I am a wife and mom. My man is funny, whip-smart, hardworking and cute as heck, and I have two zany kids to match. We rarely all get in a picture together since I am always the designated photographer, but there are rare exceptions, hence the family picture. I am very grateful for my family.
I drink coffee. Coffee helps me survive. I appreciate it especially during baseball season, when my husband coaches varsity ball and my kids both play little league and I somehow have to make the logistics of all of that fly. During this time, most days you'll find me sitting on a bleacher somewhere, with a coffee in hand. In our spare time we cheer wildly for the Boston Red Sox, so that mug pretty much says it all.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and I love the Bible. I believe it is the Word of God and that it holds the knowledge of eternal salvation as well as successfully navigating our daily lives. This is my husband's Bible. My Bible isn't very photogenic anymore, and hasn't been since the day I spilled coffee on it (refer to previous point).
I love to read, and this book is one of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors. It's "Till We Have Faces" by C.S. Lewis, and I highly recommend it. I really would recommend anything by Lewis, he hasn't let me down yet. I have a total intellectual crush on him. Shhh... don't tell.
I love to be active, hence the running shoes. I do run, but I also love working out at the gym with the circuit weights, or burning some calories on the elliptical or at my Zumba class. I haven't always been an active person, but after my second child was born I decided that I didn't want to be overweight and out of shape anymore and my husband, who is an avid runner, encouraged me to exercise. These days I'm not going to win any "Ms. Fitness" pageants, but I feel healthy and comfortable in my own skin, and that's exactly how I want to stay.
I love antiques, hence the stoneware-and-cobalt crock. I have a penchant for hitting estate sales and I love American Primitives, so this is one of my favorite finds ever. It was dirt cheap because it has been broken and repaired, but I still think it's lovely. It is proof positive that even broken things can be beautiful.
And finally, I love to have my "ducks in a row". I am a creature of habit, I operate best on a schedule, and am mostly "beaver" (with a chunky dose of lion thrown in). But since my life doesn't always permit me to have my figurative ducks in line, at least I'll always have these little guys.
In case you missed it, here's that family picture again.
